How to Do a Hand plant (Step by Step)
By Aimee Fuller (Aimee's profile here)

During summer 2006, I attended High Cascade Snowboard Camp, Oregon, and had one of the best experiences of my life. Not only did I learn how to hand plant on half pipe and ‘270’ onto a rail, I also met Willie Yli Luoma and Gretchen Bleiler who inspired me to want to achieve even great heights in this sport.

Below I am going to explain my most favorite, fun Half Pipe trick a HAND PLANT! Within no-time you will be planting yourself. My first time was scary as I was un-sure of how to get into position, within 30 minutes of constant hiking and determination I was Hand planting like my coach Gretchen Bleiler.

Step by Step - Cut into the Pipe from the center, approach Half Pipe wall with speed, gradually turn on your toe side as you reach lip, place rear hand on the lip of the wall. Use core strength from abdominals, biceps and triceps to elevate your board into the air, and enable positioning in the pipe. As you begin your journey back towards the pipe, turn your body front side rotating in total 180◦c. Use your core to quickly snap your feet and board back onto pipe, then ride away ready for the next maneuver!!!
