Shaun White for American Express at New York's TriBeCa Film Festival May 6, 2007

Shaun White at TriBeCa Film FestivalWinter in Spring!

SHAUN WHITE HIT THE VIRTUAL SLOPES FOR AMERICAN EXPRESS® AT NEW YORK’S TRIBECA FILM FESTIVAL’S ANNUAL FAMILY FESTIVAL, May 5, 2007

On Saturday May 5, 2007, snowboarding fans experienced winter on a sunny warm May morning at the first-ever American Express® Virtual Snowboarding competition featuring professional snowboarder and skateboarder Shaun White.

Festival-goers had the opportunity to compete against one another on Sony's snowboard simulator game SSX by PS2, which was projected on a huge screen in the American Express virtual snowboard park. Winners got the chance to go head-to-head against the master - Shaun White himself, to win snowboarding gear and prizes.

New York Giants football players Chase Blackburn and Robert Douglas faced off against Shaun White in the final rounds of virtual snowboarding. Shaun White also rode against 3 members of the audience who scored highest in the prelim rounds; Danielle Cohen, Liz Popovic, and Rory Knox. White won the last round against Douglas, but lost (or politely conceded) a few of the other finals bouts. Prizes were autographed Shaun White snowboards from Burton's "White Collection."

The Shaun White Virtual Snowboarding tournament is part of the American Express annual Family Festival. They once again rolled out the welcome mat for families and children of all ages through a number of street fair attractions ranging from walking the red carpet to starring in your own movie poster. Throughout the day American Express Cardmembers were invited to take a break from all of the action of the day in the comfort of the American Express Cardmember Breakroom at the TriBeCa Grill. American Express is a founding sponsor of the Tribeca Film Festival.
